Easy Beef and Broccoli with Ground Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated or minced ginger
  • 2 1/2 cups broccoli florets
  • Sliced scallions and sesame seeds for serving

Instructions

  • Cook the beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.

  • Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sriracha.

  • Add aromatics: Add in the onion and cook 5-6 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Add broccoli: Stir in the broccoli florets and pour the sauce over the beef. Mix everything well.

  • Simmer: Cover the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender but still crisp and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Serve: Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

✔️ Use fresh or frozen broccoli: Both work perfectly. If using frozen, no need to thaw first and cook for a few extra minutes.
✔️ Adjust spice level: Add more or less sriracha depending on your heat preference.
✔️ Don’t overcook the broccoli: You want it to stay bright green and crisp-tender for the best texture.
✔️ Double the sauce: If you love extra saucy rice bowls, make a little more sauce to drizzle over the top.
