Best Homemade Brownies

If fudgy brownies are your favorite then look no further. This recipe is so simple and they come out perfectly every time. Browning your butter accomplishes two things, it adds a caramelized flavor to the brownies and it melts your chocolate chips. Stir the batter well to ensure the butter does not separate.

Ingredients Needed to Make Homemade Browned Butter Brownies

  • Butter
  • Chocolate Chips
  • White Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • Vanilla
  • Salt
  • Flour
  • Cocoa Powder

How to Make Homemade Brown Butter Brownies

STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Melt your butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook the butter until fragrant and brown in color. While the butter is browning measure and mix the salt, flour, and cocoa powder in a small bowl and set aside. Pour the butter into a large heat-proof bowl and add the chocolate chips to melt.

STEP 2: Add the brown sugar and white sugar to the bowl and mix well, the mixture will have a grainy texture. Add in the eggs and vanilla and stir until combined.

STEP 3: Stir in the dry ingredients (salt, flour, and cocoa powder). Mix the batter very well to ensure the butter does not separate. Make about 50 rotations (I know that sounds like a lot but it isn’t bad).

STEP 4: Pour the batter into a parchment-lined 8×8 baking dish and bake for 25 minutes. These brownies are fudgy, be careful not to overcook them. Let the brownies cool and enjoy!

Notes for Success

These brown butter brownies contain minimal flour and no leavening agents, making them extremely fudgy, be careful not to overcook and dry them out. I mean it when I say you need to stir 50 times, this will ensure the butter is emulsified and doesn’t separate. Feel free to make the brownies in a mixer.
