Fresh Homemade Salsa

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
Fresh Homemade Salsa

The best fresh homemade salsa recipe! The salsa is perfect as a dip or as a topping on a taco or burrito bowl. You get a hint of spice and so many nutrients. Grab some tomatoes and cilantro and let’s make this delicious fresh salsa.

you can adjust the spice

The best part about this recipe is that you can make it as mild or as spicy as you want. The amount of fresh jalapeno you add controls the spice level. I normally taste the jalapeno before I add it to the salsa. If it is super spicy, I only add half to a quarter. If the jalapeno is mild, I will add the whole thing. You can also remove the ribs and seeds to reduce the spice.

The flavors are extremely fresh, and the fresh homemade salsa is loaded with cilantro and onion. The fresh tomatoes add so many nutrients and fresh flavor. All you need is a blender or food processor and some chips to dip!

notes for success

I like to add the chopped onion in after blending the salsa to keep the texture and crunch of the onion. Check your jalapeno for heat, sometimes jalapenos can range from very mild to very spicy. You can substitute your favorite hot peppers or substitute red onion. You can also use canned tomatoes or fire roasted tomatoes in place of the fresh tomatoes

storage

You can store your fresh homemade salsa in a jar or airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
